I am tripping out man

Saturday morning, that’s the name of Marni‘s latest capsule collection. A Lounge and sleepwear basically for lazy Saturday mornings. The Italian fashion house collaborated for the prints with dutch illustrator Rop van Mierlo. Famous for his “Wild animals” for which he was nominated for the this years Dutch Design Awards, he licensed four illustrations from his award-winning book for Marni’s T-shirts and shirts.

Certainly my favorite, the one with the fluffy donkey. It reminds me “Beautiful Greece”.

Collaboration, that’s the magic word at the moment. You don’t have to be a designer anymore to create clothes. Since we are able to share our works online, it became easy to connect with different people and it is logical that this phenomena of “using others people talent” became so popular. Why creating always on your own? Why not contacting an artist to collaborate. I just wrote about one example a few days ago (Yayoi Kusama and Louis Vuitton).

Today I’m having an other one. Designer Mara Hoffman‘s collaboration with 5 famous artists shows unique pieces of swimwear and leggings in limited edition. Here are all the designed pieces and one art work from each of the artists.

Which one would you choose ????

Usually I write about new upcoming designers but sometimes I can not let pass by certain things. She is one of my favorite artist, Yayoi Kusama. (wikipedia) The 83 year old Japanese Kusama went into a collaboration with the french fashion house Louis Vuitton and decorated with her very personal style all the collection with her beloved dots.

The new capsule collection contains shoes, bags, accessories and apparel for the summer 2012 launched 2 days ago, July 10th. This is not Kusama’s first move into fashion. In the 60’s when she lived in New York she established her own label, “Kusama Fashion company”, creating crazy outfits and hanging out with Andy Warhol.
